Solicitors,
Fees and Regulations
Be
it ordained that the Town Board of the Town of Odon, Indiana, affixes a fee of
$50.00 for a permit for any person, group, or company to solicit door to door
within the city limits of the Town of Odon.
Solicitors
shall obtain a permit, from the Clerk-Treasurer at the Town Hall during normal
working hours, prior to any soliciting activity. Clerk-Treasurer shall verify
the legitimacy of applicant before issuing the permit. In the case of a company
or group all solicitors’ names must appear on the permit. Each person must be
verified as a legitimate company or group representative, by proper ID, or
company person not present in the group. A $50 permit will be required for every
two representatives. Permits will be good for 30 days after issue date.
Soliciting
may take place only between the hours of 9:00am. to 8:00pm.
The
permit must be shown on, or at each call.
Penalty
for noncompliance: $100.00 fine per person, revoke of permit, an escort from
town limits, and non-permitable for one year after infraction.
Local,
not-for-profit organizations do not fall under this ordinance. Churches,
schools, Girl or Boy Scouts, Clubs, etc.
This
ordinance shall be effective upon signing, and supersedes all previous
ordinances relating to or setting solicitor fees.
